Manana is a dialogue. We believe that an international electronic music audience will find inspiration in Afro-Cuban folkloric music, and that Cuba’s powerful blend of rhythm, flow and feeling will enrich the development of electronic music and its community. In return, Manana 2016 will be an opportunity for Cubans to share their incredible cultural heritage, collaborate, and use technology to take their musical development in new directions.
The Cuban and electronic artists we have selected have been chosen based upon their ability to weave bold narratives and connect with diverse audiences. Our aim is to bring these dynamic live performers together to push boundaries and challenge perceptions through a series of collaborations that have already begun and will continue internationally following the festival.
Alongside these performances, we are working with technology partners and educational platforms to set up workshops and lectures that will run throughout the event. We hope to use these partnerships to build a permanent recording studio in Santiago that will form a base for an international music exchange program.
