[06 BULLETCAST] ALX Techno Groove Mix

For our sixth installment of BULLETCAST, we bring you Miami native, ALX. As you let this techno groove wash over you, enjoy the conversation we had about his residency at Club Space, family time and tour plans for his label, Descend Records.

You’ve come a long way in your career. How did your journey begin?

My journey began with my curiosity about technology, so when a friend left his DJ setup with me after a house party curiosity definitely got the best of me. After that I kept exploring and soon enough I was mixing tracks and spinning at house parties and continued to develop into the position I’m in today.

After playing at Space for years, has the vibe of the club changed since you started?

Club vibe, just like the vibe in the music scene in general always changes and will always continue to change. I feel like Space, like many other clubs has definitely become more underground. Before you had the loft for underground music, now these days you have the terrace playing underground music from open to close, which I think is fantastic.

Do you think having a work life balance is important?

I definitely believe having a balance is extremely important not only in your work and life but in everything. I love what I do but I also love every second I get to spend with my family.

Tell us a secret.

Here is something a lot of people don’t know. My wife is actually the one who got me into underground music and specifically Techno, and trust me she never lets me forget it anytime I try to educate her at all.

Is there a story behind your recent EP, “Feel EM” on your label Descend Records? What upcoming plans do you have for you and the label in 2016?

Well, the story behind “Feel Em” is actually interesting because originally when I sat down to make both tracks, I sat down with the mindset that I was making them for another label. Things definitely changed once I finished up both tracks. I loved them both so much that I wanted them to be the first tracks released on my Descend label. We have big plans coming up for the label and myself.

Coming up Descend Radio hosts the closing party at Electric Festival in Aruba with Stacey Pullen, Vanjee, Bryan Estefani and myself on the line-up. Later in September, I’m in Dominican Republic with Revolution Radio at Groove Fest, and then off to the west coast for more Descend parties before heading to ADE for a few shows and then a Descend in Germany. On the label side I’m really excited about the upcoming EPs that we signed that I feel are top-notch music, so I’m really looking forward to ending this year strong and ready to take it to the next level in 2017.
