We are pleased to present you with an exclusive guest mix from Miguel Puente for the fourth installment of BULLETCAST.
Has your family been big supporters of you pursuing your music? Do they ever get a chance to attend any of your shows?
Always. Even though I don't come from a musical family, they are super important and even more in the process of me pursuing music. Both of my parents came to one of my shows in Monterrey a few years ago. I was living in Barcelona for over 7 years so it was a bit difficult when I was there, but now that I'm back in Mexico, I'm gonna drag them out more for sure.
Can you tell us about this mix and how it came together?
It was quite easy how this mix came together, it's just music I'm feeling and making lately. I haven't recorded a podcast in a while and I've been meaning to do it, so the process was super fast.
What was the music scene in Mexico while you were growing up? Did that influence your road to DJing?
Monterrey had a really cool scene when I was discovering all this, can't really compare with the scene now a days because there's a lot of different things, but what really made my road to DJing was the traveling for sure.
You have traveled quite bit in your career. What are some of the experiences that stand out the most?
Traveling made me discover new music and clubs that I didn't have the reach to back home. One moment that stands out; it was quite sometime before I started to play, I was living in Montreal, Canada and I was in the middle of the dance floor. And that was the first time I ever thought 'I really want play'. I remember having a long chat with a friend that had been playing for a while already and we sat down and he just started telling me everything he knew, so thankful for always having the right people close to me.
Living in Europe gave me the best experiences playing in some amazing festivals and clubs, like DGTL Festival, OFF Week BCN, BPM Festival in Mexico, a lot of great memories.
