Ruby Velle' Drops Debut Solo Tracks and Fans the Flame for Women's Empowerment

Atlanta based singer Ruby Velle, of Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics, released her debut songs as a solo artist, and it won’t be long until Ruby Velle is a household name all on her own.

Her first song, “Go Get It” is an upbeat, optimistic tune that will have you ready to take on the world. If this song sounds familiar, it may be because it was recently featured during the season premiere of a little show you might know called “Shameless.”

This song is so infectious that you can’t help but to dance around your house ready for whatever life has to throw at you. “Go Get It” is a song that affects your mood, helping you see the silver lining. Lyrics like “If you really want it/Go and get it/ treatin’ each day like the sun is never settin’” fill you with a fierceness that will have you brave enough to laugh at life’s trials with confidence.

“Fighter.” the next single, was featured in an HBO promo in August 2018, and on this track, Ruby shows out and allows us to see the phenomenal range of her sultry vocals. Dripping with a femme fatale vibe, this song reaches in, grabs your spine and shakes you, allowing your inner goddess to come to light.

There has been a movement of women empowerment sweeping the nation, and this is a reflection of the that awakening. The days of women being content with being second class citizens are long gone. We’ve finally realized there is more to us than just being care takers of men and children, we also have to be caretakers for ourselves.

“Ain’t nowhere to go but up/ leave my fears in the dust/ you know I’ve had enough/ fighter, fighter/ got more guts than a warrior/ higher, higher/ nothing’s gonna take me down,” are some of the many powerful lyrics that prove there is a fighter in each of the women who have and will participate in the women’s marches while donning their pink pussy hats.

Ruby Velle has definitely found her niche within the music industry. Ruby Velle and others like her remind us women that we are powerful, we are beautiful in all of our shapes and sizes and only we can dictate where our life leads us.
