Christopher “Big Black” Boykin, 45-year-old television personality and bodyguard, was found dead Tuesday morning of an apparent heart attack. TMZ was the first to report the news. Fans will remember Big Black from his stints on Rob Dyrdek’s wildly popular shows Rob & Big as well as its spinoff series Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.
Boykin brought laughs and good vibes with him wherever he went, making him an instant crowd favorite. Dyrdek initially met and hired Boykin to be a “security guard to deal with security guards” per an old, DC-sponsored mini-film depicting their unique relationship. It shows Big Black sometimes calmly and sometimes aggressively (but always hilariously) allowing Rob to circumvent security guards and keep on skating. His candid humor and bubbling personality made him a natural fit for television.
Many Rob Dyrdek fans’ favorite moments from the skateboarder turned entrepreneur’s TV shows feature Christopher “Big Black” Boykin either solo or alongside Rob as they got into over-the-top antics and scorching banter with each other and the rest of the cast. Fans will never forget his love of mini-horse or his unfailing humor.
Rob Dyrdek sent a number of tweets since finding out the news of his friends passing. They range from complete, heart-wrenching sadness to appreciation and love.
We truly were brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure. I just can't fathom that it would end so suddenly.— Rob Dyrdek (@robdyrdek) May 10, 2017
