Rock 'N Roll Legend, Chuck Berry, Dead at Age 90
Chuck Berry, aged 90, passed away around lunchtime on March 18, 2017. The well-known guitarist, singer, and songwriter was considered by many to be one of the fathers of rock ‘n roll.
Whether it was Marty McFly (Johnny B. Goode) or The Beatles (Roll Over Beethoven), Chuck Berry’s tunes have been picked up and re-purposed several times over. Being such a transcendent figure in music history was not the traditional trajectory of African-American boys born in 1926, but Chuck’s unstoppable stage presence, infectious melodies, and relatable lyrics made him a household name.
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to yet another pioneer of rock ‘n roll, but we can take solace in the fact that his legacy will live on in the ears and hearts of all of us forever.
No official cause of death has been released, but an official statement from Berry's website can be found here.
Many celebrities (and even NASA) took to twitter to express their condolences, gratitude, and memories of Chuck Berry, one of the greatest to ever live.
