[Interview] Doorly Opens Up about his Dog, Label, and Upcoming Tour
Internationally known DJ, Doorly, is headed to Atlanta next month for his debut performance at Wildpitch Music Hall. Doorly has at times strayed away from the underground to work with artists like Atlanta's own Usher but that hasn't stopped him from releasing on major labels like Cajual, Hot Creations, and Dirtybird. Known for his trippy sounds, this performance should be a treat for everyone in attendance.
You're headed to Atlanta next month. What are you the most excited for when you visit the city?
Actually, the club itself. Pierre and Andrea who own the club are good friends of mine and I can't wait to see and play in their space.
Pete Tong helped fuel the fire to your success by offering you a Live Radio 1 Essential Mix opportunity. Do you plan to help artists who are looking to break into the industry?
Absolutely, that was pretty much the main reason for setting up my record label Reptile Dysfunction. I can introduce the world, or my fans at least, to some of the amazing unheard talent I meet on my travels around the world. And hopefully pass on the opportunities I have been given by people like Pete Tong, Green Velvet and Fatboy Slim throughout my career.
Nismo is your little chihuahua and she even has her own Instagram page! What's the best thing about having a tiny dog?
When you get back home from a particularly grueling tour she's there waiting for you with cuddles and she will work around the clock to make sure you are healed! She's like a therapy dog! I've always been an avid fan of very small dogs. Some of my friends call me a "poodlephile."
What's the coolest thing that you've done so far this year?
A rave cruise from Miami around the Caribbean called Holy Ship. It’s the best party on earth and everyone should do it at least once before they die. It’s AMAZING!
What are your plans for 2017?
I’ve got another tour that takes me all the way around the world. USA, Asia, Europe and Australia in March and April then The Ibiza season starts again in May and I'll be there for the whole summer for my twelfth season on the island.
