Two patrons are dead and two more are in stable condition after a shooting at an Atlanta music venue on Sunday evening. Fans at the Masquerade, located in downtown Atlanta near Georgia State University’s campus, were enjoying their evening at the all-ages venue when an altercation heated up, leading to shots being fired according to police.
A night of music with Levi Carter, Big Leano and Givon headlined by Cousin Stizz was cut short when shots rang out in Kenny’s Alley. The show, which started at 7 PM, was already well underway, at which point an altercation began and shots were fired. The incident occurred before the headlining set had begun.
Headliner Cousin Stizz made a statement on his twitter saying, "...I've always called my shows family reunions because they're never anything but fun, safe, good vibes and positivity. I'm in shock and at a loss of words for the senseless violence. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and families."
Along with police reports, witnesses are beginning to post their accounts on social media, allowing us to better understand what was going on inside the Masquerade when things went awry.
