UK producer and innovator Christopher William Mercer, known as Rusko to his fans, has announced that he has canceled all of his remaining tour stops to begin treatment for gastric lymphoma which is a rare but treatable form of stomach cancer.
Rusko tweeted to his fans yesterday the breaking the news that was tough to swallow for anyone, let alone the die-hard fans of the bass heavy producer.
Gastric Lymphoma is one of the rarest forms of stomach malignancies, but it is one that is very treatable. The ailment accounts for less than 15% of gastric malignancies and less than 2% of all lymphomas. While lymphoma is never promising, the stomach is a very common extranodal site which helps with its treatability.
Rusko had a busy summer with gigs booked at F.A.R.M. festival in the UK and Toxic Summer in San Jose, CA along with several tour stops in the US and UK. While this is heartbreaking to hear, he did mention that he has “loads” of new music that will be released in the coming months.
