Tragedy Strikes at Blue Parrot during BPM in Playa Del Carmen

Multiple sources have reported a shooting at BPM Music Festival in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. During Elrow's closing party at Blue Parrot night club multiple shots were fired killing up to five people and injuring up to fifteen others including three security guards hired by the festival. Reports that the shooting was drug related have not yet been confirmed by state officials.

BPM made an official statement on social media this morning.

The below video and audio were released by The Guardian in a report earlier today.

Valerie Lee, Mixmag’s US digital editor, who was at Blue Parrot when the shooting happened, depicted her experience on Twitter.

People across the globe are mourning this senseless tragedy. This will be a huge blow to Mexico's tourist industry. BPM was celebrating it's 10-year anniversary in Playa Del Carmen and brings some of the biggest DJs in the world.

Sending love to anyone affected by the tragedy at @thebpmfestival. Devastating news.
