Thanks Obama! The Eight Years Mixtape

It's well-known that music was jamming during the eight years the Obama family was in White House. As we say goodbye to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, we leave you with a timeline of their musical journey.


1. October 2007 - Obama walks out to Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" on The Ellen Show


2. April 2008 - The crowd goes apeshit when Obama references Jay Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" during a Democratic primary speech.  


3. September 2008 - Obama sang Aretha Franklin's "Chain of Fools" during a Democratic primary speech.


4. November 2008 - "Titans Spirit" by Trevor Rabin from the movie Remember The Titans plays following the election night victory speech.


5. January 2012 - Obama sang Al Green's "Let's Stay Together."


6. January 2009 - Bruce Springsteen opened up for Obama's inauguration with "The Rising."  


7. January 2009 - President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama took their first dance to Beyonce's rendition of "At Last" by Etta James. 


8. April 2009 Change Is Now: Renewing America's Promise was the first album to be released surrounding a presidential campaign and inauguration. The album features eight speeches from Obama, five original tracks by will.i.am, and songs from Stevie Wonder, Usher, Maroon 5 and more. 


9. May 2009 - During his commencement speech to Notre Dame graduates, Obama references John Brown and Billy Sunday's "Hallelujah Holla Back." And maybe it is the name of the winning team of the five on five basketball tournament, but still...it's music and basketball!


10. November 2012 - Winning re-election, the Obama family took to the stage to Stevie Wonder's "Signed Sealed Delivered."


11. February 2012 - Obama sang "Sweet Home Chicago" at the In Performance at The White House: Red, White, and Blues event.


12. January 2013 - President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama danced to Jennifer Hudson's rendition of "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green.


13. February 2013 - First Lady Obama showed us the evolution of the mom dance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. 


14. April 2013 - President Obama walked out to DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win" at the White House Correspondents dinner. 


15. November 2014 - Obama sang "On The Road Again" with Willie Nelson. 


16. March 2015 - Michelle Obama got down to Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" on The Ellen Show as part of her Give Me Five Dance campaign. 


17. June 2015 - President Obama sang "Amazing Grace" during the funeral for South Carolina State Senator Clementa Pinckney.


18. March 2016 - Rose Garden freestyle with Lin-Manuel Miranda.


19. May 2016 - Couch Commander featured Wiz Khalifa's "Know Your Name."


20. June 2016 - Obama "Slow Jams the News" with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots.


21. July 2016 - President Obama sang "Happy Birthday" to his oldest daughter Malia on her 18th birthday.


22. July 2016 - First Lady Obama does Carpool Karaoke to Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," Beyonce's "Single Ladies," Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On," and performed an original song "This Is For My Girls" on The Late Late Show with James Corden.


23. February 2016 - Obama sang during his last In Performance at the White House for the Ray Charles tribute. 


24. January 2016 - Not a track, but definitely worth a mention was when Obama picked Kendrick Lamar over Drake.


25. October 2016 - Obama established the first White House Festival of Ideas, Art, and Auctions with South by South Lawn.


27. December 2016 - Jill Scott was the opening act at the final White House concert Love & Happiness, an Obama Celebration presented by BET with the song "Run Run Run."


26. January 2017 - For his last speech as POTUS, Obama walked out the same way he walked into his presidency, to the sound of  U2's "City Of Blinding Lights."
